UM-Flint to host Women’s Night Out

FLINT — The University of Michigan-Flint will hold a Women’s Night Out, March 22, from 4-8 p.m.

Women’s Night Out is held annually at the University of Michigan-Flint Recreation Center. This is an open house for women to experience a variety of fitness classes. Admission is free! Women ages 16 and older are invited to attend. Free childcare will be provided for children ages 2 – 12 on the main level. No strollers or children are allowed on show floor.

Classes offered include: Aqua Fitness, Boot Camp, Lower Body Blast, Kettlebells, Pilates, Resista ball, Straight Up Step, Yoga, and Zumba®.

At 4:30 p.m. and at 7:10 p.m. they will feature the University Dining Services’ chef demonstrations for healthy menu options. This includes small portion taste testing.

Our marketplace features opportunities for attendees to shop, obtain holistic health information, and learn more about vital community services.

A Fitness Café will be open throughout the evening for food purchases.

Hourly door prizes will be given throughout the evening including a 6-month UM-Flint Recreation Center membership as well as items generously donated by the 50+ marketplace vendors.

Mott Community College registration opens April 2

FLINT — Registration for the 2012 Spring, Summer and Fall Semesters at Mott Community College begins April 2. Online registration at begins at midnight April 2 for students who meet the following requirements: successful completion of a minimum of 12 credit hours; a 2.0 GPA or higher; completion of all mandatory prerequisites and no outstanding debt to the college.

Registration can also be done in person at any MCC location. All students must apply for admission before registering for a class. There is no application fee. F

Kidney Cancer supportgroup

FLINT — The Educational Kidney Cancer Support Group will meet April 18 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, 302 Kensington, off of Robert T. Longway Blvd. Julia Herzog, Program Coordinator, National Kidney Foundation of Michigan will speak on “Finding Yourself When All Seems Lost. Julia’s Medical Journey.”
