Bottle and Can Drive for Veterans Continues

GRAND BLANC — If you missed dropping off your returnable bottles and cans last Friday, you have a second chance to do so this week. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 822, 5065 S. Saginaw St., is hosting a second day for you to clean out that garage and donate your bottles and cans. Proceeds will be used to feed our local veterans. Stop by this Friday from 12-4 p.m. and they will have an ice-cold bottle of water waiting for you. — G.G.

VFW offering take-out burger night

GRAND BLANC — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 822, 5065 S. Saginaw St., is having burger nights Wednesday-Friday-Thursday from 5-9 p.m.

Also, in addition, Friday they will be offering two-piece fish with Cole slaw and fries for $8.

Hill Road reconstruction to start today

GRAND BLANC TWP. — The Genesee County Road Commission is scheduled to begin work on Hill Road from Saginaw Street to Center Road today.

The project includes roadway reconstruction and widening to three lanes.

The work zone will be closed to through traffic. The posted detour route is Dort Highway, Maple Avenue and Center Road. Local traffic will be maintained via flagging operation.

The anticipated open to traffic date is Oct. 2.

Youth Fishing Derby goes on

DAVISON TWP. — Lake Callis Recreation Complex, 1152 N. Gale Rd., will hold its annual fishing derby starting June 15, but there will be some changes this year due to the pandemic.

Due to social distancing concerns, Davison Township Parks and Recreation has made some modifications to its Annual Fishing Derby. This year’s derby will be taking place all summer long.

Please remember if you choose to participate: head out only if you are feeling healthy and follow all State and CDC recommendations for Social Distancing.

Domino’s Pizza coming to Davison

DAVISON — Jim Dowsett, vice president of Cooper Commercial, said Domino’s Pizza is leasing space in the Davison Village Shopping Center, 825 S. State Rd.

Gerdom Realty & Investment of Novi represented Domino’s Pizza in leasing space at the plaza, which is anchored by the Salvation Army. Further details about when the restaurant will open was not available. — G.G.
