Clerk addresses voter apathy, public concerns about election process

DAVISON TWP. — Since taking office in November, Clerk Mary Miller said she has received calls and emails into her office from township residents asking if their vote was really counted.

“Residents are concerned that their ballot was not processed,” she said.

Miller and her staff have responded to the citizens’ concerns but wants to reach out to the public regarding the issue.

“I recognize many residents in our township have concerns about the election process and I want to make sure they are assured their voices have been heard and will continue to be,” said Miller. She added she is currently looking at ways to continue voter transparency and decrease voter apathy.

“As your newly elected clerk, I will continue to work every day to ensure transparency in this office and our elections,” she said. “As I’ve stated in my campaign: one person equals one vote.

“I appreciate the public reaching out to me with their election concerns. I want to ensure the township residents that their votes will count. Please do not become discouraged. Everything begins at the local level.” — G.G.
