ATLAS TWP. — Community Shred Day is coming up so it’s time to start cleaning old paperwork out those desk drawers and closets.

Hill Road work expected to conclude Friday

GRAND BLANC TWP. — The Genesee County Road Commission expects to reopen a portion of Hill Road on Friday.

The commission’s contractor began milling operations between the intersections of Saginaw and Hill roads, and Center and Hill roads, on Monday. Paving began Tuesday.

Eastbound traffic has been maintained via flagging operation while construction operations are ongoing through the intersections.

Westbound traffic has been detoured to Center Road, Maple Avenue and Dort Highway. — L.R.

DHS Class of 2021 to walk down Main Street

DAVISON — The Davison High School Class of 2021 will hold a senior parade at 7:30 p.m., May 20. Those seniors who would like to participate should arrive in their cap and gown at 7 p.m. at the library for line up. Seniors will walk from the library to Main Street, then on south Main Street to Mill Street.

Traditionally, the seniors walk through Thomson Elementary on the last day of school but were unable to do that again this year due to COVID restrictions. — G.G.

Andy’s Attic annual sale coming later in May

DAVISON — Andy’s Attic Annual Sale will be held in the gym at the St. John Family Center, 505 N., Dayton St., and in all the tents and the yellow barn behind the Family Center. This is a fundraiser, not a garage sale. Come and see the large selection of items to purchase and have fun.

The sale will be held May 20-21 and May 27-28 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and May 22, 24, 25, 26 and 29 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. They will be closed Sunday. The sale will take place rain or shine, and facemasks are required. — G.G.

Weekly car show to debut at Davison Farmers Market

DAVISON TWP. — The Harvest Collectibles at the Market will be held every Tuesday starting May 18 from 5-8 p.m. at the Davison Farmers Market, 8110 E. Court St.

A Best in Show Plaque for car, truck or tractor will be awarded weekly and there will be weekly 50/50 charitable drawings.

Some of the food vendors at the market will be open during the shows. This will be a family friendly atmosphere with food and music.

Martin to host local office hours May 17 in Clio, Davison

DAVISON — State Rep. David Martin recently announced his local office hours will be held in Clio and Davison during May.

“These informal meetings are a great way for you to ask questions and learn more about the issues I’m working on at the Capitol,” said Martin, of Davison. “It’s also an opportunity for me to connect with people in our community and learn more about the topics that matter most to our families, friends and neighbors.”

Martin will be available at the following times and locations on Monday, May 17:

• 10 -11:30 a.m. at Big Boy, 4447 W. Vienna Rd. in Clio.

• 1-2:30 p.m. at MD’s Sports Tavern & Grill, 3040 N. State Rd. in Davison.

New Life Church hosts free food distribution

FLUSHING — New Life Church in Flushing Township will be holding a free food distribution on May 17 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (or until all the food is gone). Friend of the Library to hold book sale

BURTON — After many months of wondering when they could have another gathering for a book sale, the time is finally coming.

Friends of the Burton Memorial Library, 4012 E. Atherton Rd., will be having a one-day sale on May 22 at the Book Barn. It will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the corner of Atherton and Center roads, right next to the library.

The public is invited. Remember to wear your masks, so the sale will comply with the health directions for all of us.

The sale will have literally thousands of books of all types for the choosing. They are presorted to make it easier to find what you are looking for.

The Friends of the Library Book Barn is clean and if the weather agrees, they want to have the large door open to better ventilate the space while patrons are there. — G.G.

Sneller announces May 2021 community coffee hours

CACS announces summer school program

FLINT TWP. — Carman Ainsworth Community Schools has released its summer school schedule for CACS students who are in pre-K to fifth grade. Free classes will be held Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dillon Elementary School (Dillon and Rankin students) and Randels Elementary School (Dye and Randels students). Classes will start the week of June 14 and end Aug. 12.

CACS summer school will be an eight-week face-to-face program focused on foundational reading and math skills along with some social/emotional learning. The district is also hoping to be able to provide hands-on learning events and fields trips within CDC and the Genesee County Health Department guidelines. Bus transportation, along with breakfasts, snacks and lunches, will be provided.

Flint Township to hold community clean-up on May 15

FLINT TWP. — Flint Township will be holding another community clean-up this Saturday, May 15, at the east lot of the Genesee Valley Center near J.C.
