GOODRICH — The Friends of the Goodrich-Atlas Library organization is seeking donations of books, puzzles, CDs, and DVDs for the upcoming fall book and bake sale.

Davison girls swim team wins non-league meet at Brandon

BRANDON — The Davison girls varsity swimming team finished first place at a non-league meet at Brandon on Sept. 14. Davison beat Ortonville-Brandon 117 to 66 and improved its record to 4-0 on the season. — B.G.

Church cancels food giveaway

RICHFIELD TWP. — The Russellville Wesleyan Community Church, 7490 E. Coldwater Rd., has been forced to cancel its food giveaway planned for Sept. 25 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. due to a volunteer shortage at the food bank. — G.G.

Youth basketball sign-up for 2022 at St. John’s

DAVISON — St. John Youth Basketball league will start its 13th season offering youth basketball in the Davison area.

Kindergarten through third grade Youth Basketball Sign up runs now through Dec. 23.

VFW to hold baked chicken dinner Oct. 6

DAVISON TWP. — On Oct. 6 the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4087 Auxiliary will be having a baked chicken dinner from 4-7 p.m. The dinner will include baked chicken, au gratin potatoes, vegetables, salad and dessert for $8.

Trunk or Treat at Richfield United Methodist Church

RICHFIELD TWP. — The Richfield United Methodist Church Annual Trunk or Treat will be held Oct. 16 from 5-6 p.m. at the church, 10090 Coldwater Rd.

Burton Fire Department to hold open house Oct. 9

BURTON — The Burton Fire Department will hold a fire prevention open house Oct. 9 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Fire Station No. 1, 2031 Bristol Rd.; Fire Station No. 2, 1320 S. Belsay Rd.; and Fire Station No. 3, 4515 Davison Rd.

This is an opportunity for the public to meet local firefighters, tour the fire station and trucks, sign up for free smokes alarm/ carbon monoxide detectors, free fire safety handouts, sign up for reflective address signs ($15-17), free hot dogs and chips and there will be face painting and a balloon twister for the kids.

Creekwood Dental to hold mobile food pantry

BURTON — Creekwood Dental will hold a mobile food pantry from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, for anyone who needs food.

The event will be held in the Creekwood Dental parking lot, 1080 Creekwood Trail, in Burton.

This is for anyone who needs food. If you or someone you know needs food, stop by. The Mobile Food Pantry is on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Trick or Treat Trail is Oct. 23

BURTON — Trick or Treat Trail will take place Oct. 23, from 12-3 p.m. Children will start walking the trail at noon and there will be hayrides available.
