Genealogical Society banquet
FLINT — The annual Flint Genealogical Society banquet will be June 5 at 6 p.m. at the Flint Masonic Temple on S. Saginaw St. Tickets are $15 each and must be purchased before the banquet.
Curt B. Witcher, Genealogy Center Manager at the Allen County Public Library in Ft. Wayne, IN, will be the featured speaker. He has worked at the Allen County Library for more than 30 years and is extremely knowledgeable about genealogy.
Witcher’s special interests are in U.S. local history, migration history and settlement patterns, African- American research, First Nations/Native American research, and preserving living history.

“Great Balls of Fire” event
BURTON — Area women are invited to join Camo and Lace for a night of stargazing, food and sitting around the bonfire at “Great Balls of Fire”, on June 9 at 8 p.m. at 2388 N. Belsay Rd.
Camo and Lace is a woman’s group that encourages females to get involved in outdoor sports and activities. Richard Walker, Specialist at Longway Planetarium, will be on hand to discuss some of the “Great Balls of Fire” in our night sky. Campfire food and desserts will be supplied. The event will take place even if rain is in the forecast. Participants should bring their own chairs, flashlights and bug spray. There is a fee for the event and registration is requested; further details follow. Members $2 and Guests $5.
