Genesys Hospice volunteers host bake sale Dec. 17

GOODRICH
— Genesys Hospice volunteers will host a Christmas bake sale Dec. 17, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., at Genesys Hospice Care Center, 7280 S. State Rd in Goodrich.

Christmas cookies; homemade pies, cakes, cupcakes, bread and fudge; specialty gifts such as homemade dog treats; craft-like goodies for holiday gift-giving and much more will be sold throughout the day.

Proceeds from the bake sale will go toward patient comfort needs at Genesys Hospice Care Center as well as beautification of the facility. More than 200 Genesys Hospice volunteers are involved in this fundraising endeavor.

For 30 years, Genesys Hospice has provided compassionate care and support to patients and families in this community who are coping with end-of-life issues, loss and grief. Genesys Hospice services are offered in a person’s home, at a nursing home or at the Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. The Hospice team of physicians, home health aides, social workers, therapists, volunteers and clergy provide skilled medical care and compassionate emotional support for patients and their families.

Old Newsboys hit the streets

FLINT—
The Old Newsboys of Flint will be weathering the snow for their annual newspaper sale Dec. 10. A Flint tradition for 86 years, this one-day event has helped put gifts under the tree for more than 760,000 children and is expected to make the holidays merrier for another 6,000 this year.

The Old Newsboys’ Holiday Box Program provides a sweatsuit, socks and underwear, a pair of gloves and stocking cap, a toothbrush and toothpaste and dental floss, and an age-appropriate toy to children from low income families.

Mott Community College Winter Registration now open

FLINT
— Full service registration for the 2011 Winter Semester at Mott Community College is open and continues to Jan. 7. The first day of classes for the Winter Semester is Jan. 8.

Registration can be done in person at any MCC location or online at www.mcc.edu. All students must apply for admission before registering for a class. There is no application fee. For more information, please call 810-762-0200.
