CA custodial service contractor field narrowed

FLINT TWP. — In keeping with tentative plans to privatize its custodial service, Carman- Ainsworth officials have narrowed the field of contractor candidates.

Selected for a second interview were DM Burr and CSM, according to Russ Parks, assistant superintendent, in an update to the school board last week. Parks said ten companies bid on the contract and four were initially interviewed. Finalists were chosen based on price, references and presentation. In its request for proposals, CA solicited bids covering the annual cost of labor and benefits for 24 custodians. — R.S.

Bids sought to raze Brookstone Apartments

FLINT TWP. — The township board has approved a resolution authorizing the Landbank Authority to seek bids for the demolition of ten remaining buildings at Brookstone Apartments. The complex was condemned last fall and remaining residents relocated. Tracey Tucker, township economic enhancement director, said there is a ceiling cap on the bid total for the project. Bids will be opened Aug. 13 and the winner submitted to the board at its Aug. 20 meeting, she said. — R.S.

DQ to hold Blizzard Day

GENESEE COUNTY — Beat the Summer Heat and Support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Hurley Children’s Hospital with a Dairy Queen Blizzard on July 26.

Proceeds from local Blizzard sales will benefit Hurley Children’s Hospital on the Seventh Annual Miracle Treat Day. The following Dairy Queen locations are participating in Miracle Treat Day: 4145 S.
