Comments in the July 26 Flint Township View may have suggested fire stations in the township were closed due to budget cuts. Supervisor Karyn Miller said fire stations No. 2 and No. 3 are always staffed. Fire Station No. 1, located across from the township offices at Corunna and Dye roads, is staffed during the day, but not always at night. — G.G.

Voter information for Tuesday’s election

FLINT TWP. — Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. for Tuesday’s election. All polling locations for Flint Township voters have changed. The new voting sites, according to precincts, are as follows:

West Flint Church of the Nazarene 2254 S. Dye Rd.— Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10

VFW Post 3087, 4138 Corunna Rd.— Precincts 6 and 11

Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 4133 Calkins Rd.— Precincts 5, 7, 8 and 9

Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W. Bristol Rd., Precincts 12, 13, 14 and 15

Voters should check new Voter Registration cards recently mailed out to find out where to vote. You must vote in your assigned precinct.

Also Michigan election law requires voters to either present picture identification or sign an affidavit stating they do not have picture identification with them. Acceptable forms of photo identification include a Michigan driver’s license or personal ID; Non-Michigan driver’s license or personal ID; Federal or state governmentissued ID; a U.S. passport, a Military ID; a Student ID— high school or accredited institution of higher education or a Tribal ID card. — R.S.

Fire Dept. hosting Media Day to show off new trainer

FLINT TWP. — The Charter Township of Flint Fire Department, Station No 1. G-5331 Reuben St., will host a media day at 11 a.m. Friday to demonstrate its new Mobile Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and Live Fire Training Trailers and also to show appreciation for the donors and supporters of the project.

In February, the Flint Township Fire Department received an 80/20 regional FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) to help purchase the unit. Donor pitched in to help meet the local matching funds. The trailers were delivered in June.

Two trainings were conducted on July 14 and 21 on how to safely operate the different props and the live fire room, on the trailers. A total of 34 Officers and firefighters from across Genesee County attended the training classes. The SCBA and Live Fire Mobile Trainers will be primarily stored at Flint Township, but will travel throughout Genesee County and will be used at the Genesee County Fire Academy. — R.S.

Regular Township Board meeting canceled

FLINT TWP. — Because of Tuesday’s election, the township board will not hold its regular Monday night meeting on Aug. 6. The next regularly scheduled board meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Aug. 20 at the township hall. — R.S
