Game benefits Old Newsboys

FLINT
— A new style of hockey has made its way to Flint featuring the NAHL’s young “stars-inthe making.” Join the Old Newsboys and the UAW 2 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Perani Arena to watch the Michigan Warriors take on the Traverse City North Stars. Come out for an action-packed afternoon to benefit needy children across Genesee County.

The Old Newsboys’ Christmas Box Program provides warm clothing, two pairs of socks and underwear, gloves and a stocking cap, dental hygiene products, and a toy to at-risk children.

The program is funded entirely through the annual paper sale, donations, and fundraisers. In its 86 year history the Old Newsboys organization has put presents under the tree for more than 760,000 children across Genesee County. Last year alone, 5,892 children received gifts from the Old Newsboys. — G.G.

MCC Winter Registration

FLINT
— Full service registration for the 2011 Winter Semester at Mott Community College is open and continues to Jan. 7. The first day of classes for the Winter Semester is Jan. 8.

Registration can be done in person at any MCC location or online at www.mcc.edu. All students must apply for admission before registering for a class. There is no application fee. For more information, please call 810-762-0200.

Genesys Hospice volunteers host bake sale Dec. 17

GOODRICH
— Genesys Hospice volunteers will host a Christmas bake sale Dec. 17, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., at Genesys Hospice Care Center, 7280 S. State Rd. in Goodrich.

Christmas cookies; homemade pies, cakes, cupcakes, bread and fudge; specialty gifts such as homemade dog treats; craft-like goodies for holiday gift-giving and much more will be sold throughout the day. Proceeds from the bake sale will go toward patient comfort needs at Genesys Hospice Care Center as well as beautification of the facility. More than 200 Genesys Hospice volunteers are involved in this fundraising endeavor.

For 30 years, Genesys Hospice has provided compassionate care and support to patients and families in this community who are coping with endof life issues, loss and grief. Sweet Adelines seeks singers

— Song of the Lakes Sweet Adelines Chorus of Davison is seeking female singers for membership openings.

Women of all ages who love to sing, perform and are interested in improving their vocal skills are invited. Come and receive free vocal lessons. Rehearsals are at the Davison Senior Center, 10135 Lapeer Rd., in Davison Township, Monday nights from 7-10 p.m.
