Township seeking flood compensation grant

FLINT TWP. — Hoping to recoup some of the costs caused by severe flooding in early May, the township board has passed a resolution seeking a State Disaster Contingency Fund Grant. Supervisor Karyn Miller said the one-time grant of up to $30,000 would be used to offset the financial hardship caused by clean-up costs and overtime paid for fire and police. Residents who sustained flood damages or not eligible for these grant funds, she said. — R.S.

Twp. OKs homecoming parade route

FLINT TWP. —The township board has approved the parade route for the Carman- Ainsworth Homecoming Parade, from 4-5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. The parade will follow its usual route from South Baptist Church on Van Slyke Road, south to Maple Road and east to Carman Ainsworth Middle School. Affected streets will be closed from 3:30 -5:30 p.m. on that day. — R.S.
