Kidney cancer support group to meet in October

FLINT — The Kidney Cancer Educational Support Group will meet Oct. 17, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, 302 Kensington. Featured speaker is Dr. Stuart Wolf, Jr., director of the Minimally Invasive Urology Division; Professor of Urology, University of Michigan.

MCC Board of Trustees to meet Oct. 22

FLINT — The Mott Community College Board of Trustees will meet Oct. 22 in MCC’s Regional Technology Center, Room 1301, on the MCC main campus, located at 1401 E. Court St., Flint.

The Board of Trustees regular committee of the whole meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held at 7:30 p.m.

The board may also move to proceed in closed session to discuss matters allowed pursuant to the Open Meetings Act.

Salvation Army seeks bell ringers

GENESEE COUNTY — The Salvation Army of Genesee County will host two job fairs in mid-October to recruit full-and part-time bell ringers for the upcoming Red Kettle Campaign.

The job fairs will be held Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Beecher Corps located at 1475 W. Coldwater Rd. and on Oct.15 at 9 a.m. at the Citadel Corps located at 211 W. Kearsley St. in downtown Flint.

To apply for a bell ringer position, applicants are required to attend one of the October job fairs. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and will be required to present the following information at the job fair: a valid Driver’s License or State ID; Social Security Card; a schedule of availability.

The Salvation Army Red Kettle bell ringing season kicks off Nov. 9 and continues through Dec. 24.

Davison Eagles hold haunted trail event

RICHFIELD TWP. — The Davison Eagle Riders will hold a haunted trail at the Eagles Club, 3270 N. State Rd., Friday and Saturday nights Oct. 12-13, 19-20 and 26-27.

Enter into the asylum and then take a ride on the slaughter wagon to the haunted trail where you will walk in your worst nightmare.

The trail opens at 7:30 p.m. and the last ride out is 11 p.m. The cost is $10 and will go to help local charities. No one under 12 admitted. Staff has the right to refuse entry to anyone.
