Local dentist takes a stand against sweets

BURTON — Linda Park, DDS, at Park Dental Center is redefining the phrase “put your money where your mouth is.” On Nov. 1 trick-or treaters can bring their candy to Park Dental Center, 4300 Court St. in Burton and receive $1 per pound (up to 5 pounds). The candy must be unopened.

Candy, Park said, as well as hurting children’s teeth, can lead to hyperactivity and weight gain. In some cases, the wrong types of candy can also lead to broken teeth and damaged braces.

Candy collected will be sent to California where it will be repackaged into individual holiday packages for our troops overseas. In addition to shipping candy, Park Dental Center will also be sending toothbrushes, toothpaste and children (and parents) will also have the opportunity to send a picture or letter.

Park emphasizes general family dental care including digital x-rays, tooth colored fillings, Cerac same-day crowns, dentures, partials, bridges, braces, implant dentistry and cosmetic dentistry.
