Annual Scrapbook Crop at Swartz Creek UMC

SWARTZ CREEK — The UMW of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church are sponsoring a Scrapbooking Workshop 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Family Life Center of the church. Genealogical Society event

BURTON — The Flint Genealogical Society is featuring Jayne Larion and Lois Revenaugh, long-time members, at its Jan. 4 meeting. They will be sharing their knowledge about version 2011 of Family Tree Maker, a popular genealogy computer program. Even if individuals do not have that version or program, they will be surprised at all they can learn at this educational meeting.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop and come prepared for a fun evening. The Society meets at the Burton Senior Citizens Center, 3410 S. Grand Traverse St., at 7 p.m. Visitors are welcome and admission is free. Tickets will be on sale for the two-day research trip to Ft. Wayne, Ind., on May 10-11, 2011. GENESEE COUNTY — Genesee County Parks is looking for large and small groups of people who are used to working together. Whether it’s volunteering at Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad during Day Out With Thomas, creating gift bags for an upcoming event at the Parks Administration Office or working on the flowerbeds at For- Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum, there are a variety of volunteer opportunities at Genesee County Parks.

If your company or organization has a volunteer hour requirement, there is no other place as fun as the Genesee County Parks to log your hours. Volunteers truly are the heart of Genesee County Parks.
