Bank robbery among monthly crime stats

FLINT TWP. — A robbery Citizens Bank at Linden and Court street was one of four armed robberies in the past month, said Police Chief George Sippert in report to the Flint Township board. He did not provide details about the bank robbery other than that it occurred about 2:50 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17 and there were two suspects. In his monthly crime statistics report, Sippert said officers responded to 1,050 calls so far this month, including 349 checks of businesses and residences, 62 domestic disturbances and 83 traffic accidents of which 16 involved injuries. — R.S.

Contracts extended

FLINT TWP. — With contract negotiations ongoing for the police chief, fire chief and controllers, the township board voted 5-2 to extend their expiring contracts for three months. Trustees Barb vet and Belenda Parker voted no. Vert said she would like to see the process expedited with only a 30-day extension instead of three months. — R.S.

Genesys Art Exhibit

GRAND BLANC — In partnership with Genesys Hospice, the Grand Blanc Arts Council is featuring an exhibit of wildlife paintings by Dan Waltz through March 2 at Genesys Health Park on the second floor. Dan Waltz is known for his realistic renderings of wildlife, as seen in numerous publications, including Michigan Out-of-Doors. A resident of Grand Blanc, he has also illustrated many children’s books and is the author/illustrator of the “Chilled to the Bone” series.
