Roosters raises money for Movember

DAVISON — Roosters Men’s Grooming Center, a modern barbershop that focuses on delivering the best in men’s grooming in a relaxing, welcoming environment, is pleased to announce that in November, their guests, fans and franchisees raised more than $2,500 for Movember, an organization that raises vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.

“Prostate cancer is a diagnosis that affects hundreds of thousands of men and their loved ones each year,” said Roosters Men’s Grooming Center Brand Director Brian Thomas. “Supporting Movember’s well-groomed, mustachioed approach to raising awareness about men’s health issues was a natural fit for Roosters and our guests. It was very well received and we’re pleased we were able to take part in the annual event. — G.G.

Loeb Trust lends support to MCC Foundation

FLINT — The Foundation for Mott Community College is announcing its gratitude to the Stella & Frederick Loeb Charitable Trust for its ongoing support. This year, the Loeb Trust gave generously to the Mott, Motown & More Lip Sync show and the Ballenger Eminent Persons Lecture Series.

The Loeb Trust donated $2,500 and $500, respectively, to the two MCC programs which continue to gain broad community support and attention.

Aunt Millie’s donates to foodbank

FLINT —Aunt Millie’s foodbank donations are now complete for 2012. This year they donated more than 64,000 loaves of bread. In Flint, Aunt Millie’s donated 3,600 to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan on Nov. 30.

Since 2009 Aunt Millie’s has donated nearly a quarter million loaves of bread to Midwestern foodbanks. — G.G.

VFW to hold fish fry

BURTON — Every Friday the Burton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2777 and its Auxiliary have a Fish Fry from 4-7 p.m. The menu consists of Pollock (Walleye family), chicken strips or shrimp, french fries, mac and cheese or onion rings; coleslaw or applesauce, french bread and coffee.

New item on the menu is “Roasted Chicken” with mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, roll, and applesauce or coleslaw. The Post is located at 2260 S. Belsay Rd. (between I-69 & Atherton Rd.). Takeouts are available by telephone or in person. Call 810-743-4138. — G.G.
