Genesee Wind Symphony to perform
FLINT — The Genesee Wind Symphony, conducted by Bruce Nieuwenhuis, will perform its annual “Presidents’ Day” concert Feb. 18, at Woodside Church 1509 East Court Str., starting at 7:30 pm.
The concert, entitled “American Experiences,” will include From Main to Oregon, a march by John Philip Sousa on the 100th anniversary of its publication. The work is from his Operetta, The American Maid, a comic love story with patriotic elements related to the Spanish American War. — G.G.
Valentine’s gala planned
FLINT— The Old Newsboys of Flint will host its annual President’s Valentine Gala, Feb. 9 at the Warwick Hills Country Club. The evening of flirtation and fancy begins at 6 p.m. with hors d’ oeuvres and conversation followed by a sumptuous dinner at 7 p.m., and dancing at 8:30 p.m. Valet parking is included in this black-tie optional event.
