Help salute the troops

FLINT TWP. — The C-A Corps, a military prep club at Carman-Ainsworth High School is in the process of creating a salute to military service members who are graduates of C-A high school. This tribute will be displayed on a bulletin board at the high school.

The group is seeking pictures of service member alumni along with details of their service and year of graduation from CAHS. Scholarship applications being accepted

FLINT TWP. — The West Flint Business Association is now accepting applications for its annual scholarships.

Each year the group provides three scholarships for area students:

•Adult Learner Student Scholarship for individuals in the work force trying to improve themselves by furthering their education.

•High School Community Service Scholarship for a high school senior pursuing a college education.

•GASC Technology Center Scholarship for a high school senior enrolled in a Career & Technology program at GASC who is continuing his/her education in a related specialty area.

The recipients are selected based on service to school and community.

Applications with other documentation including transcripts, two letters of recommendation and a personal letter of introduction are due by March 31. Other restrictions apply. For details and to download a copy of the application, visit the WFBA website at — R.S.

Come see Easter Bunny at Genesee Valley Center

FLINT TWP. — The Easter Bunny will arrives at Genesee Valley Center, March 9. He will available for photos from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday through March 30. 3rd Annual Flint’s Finest Hoops Tournament

SWARTZ CREEK — Flint’s Finest Basketball will host its 3rd Annual Flint’s Finest Hoops Tournament on April 20-21 at the Cage Fieldhouse, 4110 Morrish Road.

The tournament will be for Boys 9-14 and Girls 7th and 8th grade division. Games will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The cost for a three game guarantee is $250. Entry deadline is April 13. First and second place trophies and medals will be rewarded.

Flint’s Finest Basketball is a nonprofit yearround basketball program based in Flint. Last year’s tournament featured 46 top teams from around the region including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Saginaw and Flint.
