Goodwill Industries partners with Food Bank

GENESEE COUNTY — There has never been a better time to donate to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and now you can do it while making donations to Goodwill. Goodwill Industries and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan are partnering to better serve our community.

Clean out your closets and your pantry. All Goodwill of Mid-Michigan locations are now drop-off sites for both organizations.

When you donate to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan you are supporting their mission to “Change the face of hunger.”

Joseph Hamo earns Wells-Fargo designation

MCC offers training for jobs as day care providers

CLIO — Mott Community College’s Northern Tier Center in Clio is partnering with Horizon Training and Bentley Manor in Clio to provide a unique training opportunity for anyone interested in caring for patients in adult foster care homes and assisted living facilities.

Individuals can obtain Direct Service Provider (DSP) certification through a oneweek program at the MCC Northern Tier Center. Individuals who take and pass the DSP training will automatically meet the state certification requirements that will qualify them for work at any of the more than 250 adult care facilities in Genesee County. The program began this week. All graduates are guaranteed interview opportunities upon successful completion of the program. Details: Call 810-232- 8044.

The courses will be taught at the MCC Northern Tier Center, located at 4082 West Vienna Road in Clio.

CPR and First Aid cards will be issued by the American Red Cross. The cost of the entire DSP training is $800, a $200 discount for those registering for all classes. If each course is taken separately, the total cost is $1,000. — G.G.
