I-69 freeway sign upgrade scheduled in Genesee and Lapeer counties

GENESEE COUNTY — Orange construction cones began popping up like spring crocuses this week with the start of freeway sign upgrades on I-69 scheduled to last all summer.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced a $3 million upgrade for freeway signs along eastbound and westbound I-69 in Genesee and Lapeer counties.

Shoulder closures will be in effect in both directions of the freeway. As work progresses, lane closures may be required and will be announced as scheduled. Electronic message boards are being used to alert motorists on I- 75 and I-69 to the work.

The project began March 25 and is estimated to be completed in late September.

C-A robotics team continues winning ways

FLINT TWP. — Da Peeps, Carman- Ainsworth’s FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) Team competed at the Cranbrook FIRST Robotics Competition on March 8. They were the Captain of the 1st place winning alliance team, which qualified the team to compete at the World Championship in St. Louis Missouri from April 24-27. The team won 9 of its 10 matches and was also recognized for its efforts in reaching out to the community.

Senior Center holding Ladies Night

FLINT TWP. — The Caman-Ainsowrth Senior Center is now selling tickets for a Ladies Night, to be held from 5-9 p..m. on May 9 at the center. Ticket sales will be limited to the first 75 ladies to sign up and must be purchsaed by May 1. The $3 admission includes a chicken salad meal, pampering and chance to buy products from Avon, Gloria’s Boutique, jewley, Lil More than a Handful and a 31 Bag Reprentative.
