Flint Women’s Forum to recognize Zehnder family

FLINT — The Flint Women’s Forum (FWF) is set to host their 2013 annual Celebration of Women Annual Meeting and Luncheon.

Ninety-one year-old Dorothy Zehnder, owner of Bavarian Inn Restaurant and Lodge will address the crowd at the April 26 event, along with her daughter and Lodge President, Judy Zehnder Keller and her granddaughter and Restaurant General Manager, Amy Zehnder- Grossi.

The event will be held at The Flint Golf Club in Flint, Michigan from 11:30 a.m. until approx. 1:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend can download or request an invitation and pay via pay pal from the club’s website www.flintwomensforum.org under “Meetings and Events.” — G.G.

Kroger donates nearly $480,000 to Cancer Society

GENESEE COUNTY — The Kroger Co. of Michigan presented the American Cancer Society with a check for nearly $480,000 in support of the statewide Making Strides Against Breast Cancer effort.

The check presentation was the culmination of fundraising efforts by Kroger for the 2012 American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event season. Michigan-based Kroger stores and its associates participated in six Making Strides walks across the state, with more than 130 stores and 1,000 employees involved in walks and fundraising efforts.

Kroger serves as a flagship sponsor of the Making Strides events in Flint, Saginaw, Lansing, Ann Arbor and Howell as well as presenting sponsor of the Detroit event, which is the largest in the state raising more than $1 million. Making Strides walks honored the more than 7,700 women and men diagnosed with breast cancer in Michigan this year and the 1,350 who lost their battle in 2012.

Announcing no-fee business workshops

FLINT — The I-69 Trade Corridor Regional office of the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC) located at Kettering University in Flint has announced all “Venture Start” workshops scheduled and delivered by regional staff in Genesee, Lapeer, and St. Clair counties will be offered free of charge through 2013.

These workshops are available at various locations and times, and with varying fees at other sites around the state. This no-fee policy applies only to the Venture Start courses in Genesee, Lapeer, and St. Clair counties.

The upcoming no-fee courses, which can be searched online at www.misbtdc.org/ training are: Writing a Business Plan in Flint April 11; Starting a Business in Lapeer April 15; Writing a Business Plan in Lapeer April 15; Starting a Business in Port Huron April 18; Starting a Business in Flint April 25; Financial Management in Port Huron April 25; and Marketing Your Business in Flint April 30.
