Genesee County exhibitors featured at women’s show

NOVI — C & L Ward of Davison; Elegance eT Cetera and Midwest Pools of Grand Blanc; and Fireside Coffee Company of Swartz Creek are featured exhibitors at the Michigan International Women’s Show, May 2-5, Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

The 18th annual Michigan International Women’s Show is presented by The Detroit News and sponsored by Kroger, Chevrolet, The Balancing Act, Farmers Insurance and United Dairy Industry of Michigan. Suburban Collection Showplace is located at 46100 Grand River Ave. between Novi and Beck Road in Novi.

Show hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10; youth 6-12 are $5 and children 5 and under are admitted free with a paying adult.

Advance tickets are $8 online. Discount tickets are available at Kroger for $7. Group tickets for 4 or more are offered in advance online for $8. Happy Hours are everyday after 5 p.m. with $5 admission, free gifts, discounts and special demonstrations. On site parking is available for $5.

National Guitar Champion to perform, teach in Holly

HOLLY — Guitarist Steve Kaufman, the three-time winner of the National Flatpicking Championships, will offer an all-level flatpicking guitar workshop in Holly, May 10-11, at Capital Music, 101 S. Saginaw St.

The evening concert will be held on May 11 at Capital Music. This year’s slots are going fast, so make your reservations now. Contact Capital Music 248-245-5167 or email The two-day all-level flatpicking guitar workshop will be a two-hour session Friday evening (7-9 p.m.) and will cover core picking skills and techniques, repertoire and building blocks for growth. The workshop continues Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. for six more hours.

The fee for the all-level flatpick guitar workshop is $90 per person. A non-refundable deposit of $45 is required to hold a space, with the remainder due the day of the workshop. Registration required. Seating is limited. — G.G.
