FGS to hold annual dinner
FLINT — The Flint Genealogical Society will have their annual dinner June 4, 6 p.m., at The Masonic Temple, 755 S. Saginaw St., Flint.
Speaker will be Kim Crawford, on his book “The Daring Trader: Jacob Smith in the Michigan Territory, 1802-1825.”
Tickets are $15 and the public is welcome.

Service award competition
GENESEE COUNTY — Two students from Mott Community College were recognized for their dedication and commitment to community service during the 17th annual Outstanding Student Service Awards Celebration, held recently at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing.
Kayla Fenner and Tiffanie Osburn received the Commitment to Service Award from the Lansing-based Michigan Campus Compact (MiCC). Each year, MiCC awards students from member colleges and universities across the state for their outstanding commitment to service-learning and civic engagement. The Commitment to Service Award recognizes up to two students per member campus for either their breadth or depth of community involvement or service experiences.
Fenner is a licensed foster parent and very active in children’s advocacy groups. She is a volunteer at the Whaley Children’s Center in Flint. Osburn has been volunteering in numerous schools, the North End Soup Kitchen and Flushing Community Outreach Center. She also volunteers for the YWCA Victims Advocacy Program and does sign language for community events.

Father, son and daughter breakfast June 15
GRAND BLANC — Faith Lutheran Church is hosting a Father, Son and Daughter Breakfast on June 15 from 9 a.m. -10:30 a.m.
Guest speaker will be Ray Scott, former player and coach for the Detroit Pistons. The cost is free, but seating will be limited to 300. Tickets can be obtained from the Faith Lutheran Church office, 12534 Holly Rd. between the hours 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday- Friday.
