Document shredding

FLINT TWP. — Township residents can bring confidential papers for shredding to the township hall to be shredded from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 8.

A mobile shredding truck will be on hand to process the documents. Residents are asked to limit their load to no more than two boxes per vehicle to ensure that everyone is served in a timely manner. The truck will be in the parking lot of the township hall at 1490 S. Dye Road. — R.S.

Habitat for Humanity receives donation from landscape association

GENESEE COUNTY — The Genesee Area Landscape and Nursery Association (GALNA)has donated $600 to Genesee County Habitat for Humanity to support its efforts to build affordable housing in partnership with low-income families.

GALNA raised the funds by auctioning off 200 plants at the Home and Garden Show in April. The donation will be used toward kitchen appliances in a new home Habitat for Humanity will begin building in the fall after finishing seven current projects. This new build will be in the Foss Avenue Neighborhood that Genesee County Habitat for Humanity is invested in. — R.S.

Tenth Robotics Academy on tap at Ainsworth

FLINT TWP. — The 10th Annual Robotics Academy will be held 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.. June 17-21 at Carman- Ainsworth’s Rankin Elementary, G-3459 Mundy Ave. in Mundy Township. Participating students will learn how to build and program a robot using a LEGO robotics kit as they are led by members of the past FIRST LEGO League World Championship team.

Only 24 students will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. There will be a maximum of three children per robot. Kids will also have an opportunity to see other robots and will go on a field trip to see real-world robots in action. The camp is for students in grades 4-8. A $180 fee includes an academy t-shirt. Animal Shelter reform panel to hold meeting

FLINT — The Advisory Panel’s next public meeting will be held on June 13 at 7 pm. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the County Administration Building in the third floor auditorium.
