FLINT TWP. — Just in time for Father’s Day shopping, the CommunityLink online group discount program is offering links to deals on neck ties and miniature golf. The tie offer is $50 worth of merchandise for $25 from Jack Franklin Ties, an online leader in silk tie sales. The golf deal from King Par on Flushing road is for $2.50, half off the normal price to play at the custom 18-hole miniature golf course. The Community Link initiative was developed by the Carman-Ainsworth Education Foundation as a fundraising tool for local youth.
The goal is raise money for school programs such as booster clubs and athletic organizations while supporting a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) career pipeline, college entrance exams and application fees and post secondary scholarships. Maurices to hold children’s interior decor drive to benefit Zoie Sky
FLINT TWP. — maurices women’s clothing store at Genesee Valley Center shopping mall is holding a Children’s Bedding drive to benefit Zoie Sky.
Zoie Sky is a Flushing-based foundation created to provide bedrooms for needy children. Founder Kali Weber said she founded the organization after working in homes where needy children were sleeping on the floor or sharing a mattress.
The New Children’s Bedding drive at maurices begins June 17 and continues through July 20. Customers can drop off their donations any time during store hours, 10 am – 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon – 6 p.m. on Sunday. Items needed include children’s bedding and children’s bedroom decor. maurices participates in many benefits throughout the year but is especially proud to support a local effort, said store Manager Joelle Hornbeck.
For each donation, people will receive a coupon for 20 percent off any one regularpriced maurices item. maurices offers clothing and accessories for women in sizes 1 to 24.
Zoie Sky operates by meeting with target children to find out their hobbies, interests and favorites colors. The bedrooms are designed to cater to the child’s wishes and includes cleaning, painting and setting up while the child is away from home. They return to find their bedroom filled with new bed, dresser,desk, window treatments, pictures, and pillows personalized to their interests.
