Active shooter training exercise at Davenport U

FLINT TWP.— At the request of administrators at Davenport University on Miller Road, the Flint Township Police Department conducted an active shooter training exercise on June 21, said Police Chief George Sippert.

The training was primarily for staff members, he said. The exercise also helped officers become more familiar with the building, Sippert said. Active shooter drills are conducted at many schools as a precaution to learn what to do if a situation arises involving a shooter or other threat to public safety. — R.S.
