Ziemer joins Floyd Primary Care Network

DAVISON — Steven P. Ziemer, M.D., formerly of Davison, has joined the Floyd Primary Care Network. He is seeing patients at Floyd Primary Care and Urgent Care, 1328 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Cartersville, GA.

Ziemer earned his medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio.

He completed his residency at the Floyd Family Medicine Residency Program. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Dr. Ziemer is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He lives with his wife and six children in Cartersville. — G.G.

Companies take HealthPlus physical activity challenge

FLINT — HealthPlus challenged its employer partners throughout Michigan to be more physically active.

More than 20 companies — and more than 700 employees — answered the call and participated in the Step It Up Challenge.

“We are thrilled with the level of participation in this year’s Step It Up Challenge,” said HealthPlus Director of Health and Lifestyle Management Elaine Schneuringer. “Collectively, challenge participants logged an astonishing 1.3 million minutes of physical activity during the six-week challenge. That’s nearly two and half years of continuous healthy movement that adds up to healthier workplaces.”

Competition categories and results:

• Highest average minutes of physical activity per qualified participant

• Large Division winner — Pioneer State Mutual Insurance Company

• Small Division winner — Clarkston Internal Medicine

Highest percentage of total company participation

• Large Division winner — Pioneer State Mutual Insurance Company

• Small Division winner — Huron Valley Physicians Association (100 percent participation)

HealthPlus members won’t have to wait long to participate in another healthy challenge.

To promote the importance of a healthy diet, HealthPlus will launch its Strive for Five Challenge in August.

Participants can win prizes for eating five or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day during the challenge.
