Four businesses celebrate opening in downtown Flint

FLINT — Four local businesses celebrated their grand openings in downtown Flint during a “Partners for Progress” press event hosted by the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce and the City of Flint.

Chyrsa’s Alterations and Exclusive Apparel Design, Timothy Goodrich Custom Shoes, BRIX and Network Labs “cut the ribbon” on their new location at 522 S. Saginaw Street.

The businesses are co-located in the building. Collectively, they represent a $60,000 investment and will bring six jobs downtown.

“Redevelopment in downtown Flint continues with entrepreneurs and small businesses joining those already enjoying success in the heart of the city,” said Tim Herman, Chamber CEO.

“It’s exciting to see these four businesses open up downtown this week along with the new Genesys Health Center and Pharmacy and Café Rhema. They will soon be joined by Michigan State University’s public health program and the Flint Farmers Market. We are truly building momentum in the region.”

Each of the businesses brings a unique service to downtown Flint. Chyrsa’s is a custom apparel shop providing wedding and prom dresses, as well as casual clothing and costumes.

BRIX is the brain child of 13-year-old-twins Deven and Nihkil Mukkamala. Downtown’s youngest entrepreneurs will sell locally made and imported urban apparel and craft items.

Timothy Goodrich Custom Shoes will create and sell hand-made shoes. Tech start-up Network Labs will provide 24/7 remote access to robotically controlled science laboratories. — G.G.

Ultrasound facility to take part in Mom2Mom sales

DAVISON — Sneak-A-Peek LLC, is doing some exciting things within the community.

This family run, 3D/4D ultrasound facility has been participating in local Mom2Mom sales and is planning a big event featuring other small business women. The OHH BABY!! event on Sept. 7 was designed to create exposure for Sneak-APeek as well as independent consultants for Lindt Chocolate, Uppercase Living, Origami Owl, and a local designer of baby boutique items, who is starting her own line, known as Red Elephant Designs. Sneak-A-Peek is offering 10 minute 3D/4D ultrasounds for only $20 and each vendor will have displays set up with their items for sale. In the spirit of collaboration, Sneak-A-Peek is also pairing with Jaded Gate Photography, a start-up photographer from the Columbiaville area.

Sneak-A-Peek opened its doors on June 1 and has since been busy giving expectant mothers a unique experience in ultrasound technology. The 4D technology Sneak-A-Peek boasts adds time to a 3D image, this means that as the baby wiggles, waves, and smiles in the womb, we get to watch something precious that we are not often privy to.

Sneak-A-Peek’s spacious room can comfortably seat 12 people, so the whole family can come and enjoy seeing the newest family member before they are even born.

By offering seven different packages, Sneak-APeek allows families to customize their visit. They also offer massage and belly casting services.
