Disney Institute to present workshop on Sept. 25

FLINT — Are you ready to bring clarity to your business challenges? Are you ready to inspire new ways of thinking about organizational effectiveness? Then, you’re ready to D’Think. The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce welcomes Disney Institute and “Disney’s Approach to Creativity & Innovation,” a one-day workshop Sept. 25, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre, 5353 Gateway Centre.

Cost is $300 for Flint & Genesee Chamber members and $399 for Non-Members.

Workshop topics include fostering a collaborative culture, defining and organizational identity, establishing structural systems and understanding the leader’s role.

This professional development experience explores how The Walt Disney Company taps into its workforce as a continuous fountain of creative ideas and innovative solutions. The workshop will allow participants to examine how Disney leaders at all levels effectively blend a framework of organizational identity and structural systems, with a collaborative and inspirational culture to create a steady flow of innovative products and services in and increasingly competitive marketplace.

Maxwell-Cook named new parter with Plante Moran

FLINT — Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, has elected 12 new partners firmwide. Seven of them are based in Michigan and one is in the Flint offices.

Lonnie Maxwell-Cook, CPA, is based in Flint. Maxwell-Cook focuses on audit, review, compilation, accounting, tax and business advisory services for clients in the construction, manufacturing and service industries. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting from Northwood University.

Maxwell-Cook is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, Lansing Chapter Construction Financial Management Association, Tri-City Contractors Association, Michigan Infrastructure Transportation Association and Associated General Contractors. — G.G.
