Rummage sale to benefit PAWS, donations needed
CLAYTON TWP. — PAWS — Pets Are Worth Saving — is seeking donations of items for a rummage sale to raise money to help pay for the cost of animal care.
All items except clothing are welcome, said PAWS President Glenda Beatty, who said the rescue operates on an annual budget of more than $100,000.
The rummage sale will take place Oct. 4-6, at 4114 Seymour Road.

SWARTZ CREEK — The Swartz Creek Senior Center will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8-10 a.m. Saturday. The $5 ticket includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee and orange juice. Take-out also is available.
Recycled plastic trash bags also will be sold at the center starting that day. The trash bag sale also is a fundraiser. — L.R.
Kiwanis Club peanut sale
SWARTZ CREEK — The Kiwanis Club will have its annual peanut sale from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 20. Kiwanians will be stationed around town, selling small bags of peanuts for donations.
The peanut sale began in 1951 in Chicago and has raised $73 million for the group’s charitable projects. — L.R.
Ice Cream Social & Fund Raiser for Flickinger Family
GRAND BLANC — The First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc, 6106 S. Saginaw Rd., (south of Hill Road) is hosting an Ice Cream Social & Fund Raiser to raise money for the Flickinger Family.
Mom Jackie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer about six months ago. She has had several hospital stays, chemotherapy treatments, major surgery, other medical procedures, etc. She is now cancer free. However, the medical bills are mounting. The event is Sept. 20, from 6-8 p.m. — G.G.
Faith Lutheran to host special AA workshops
GRAND BLANC — Faith Lutheran Church,12534 Holly Rd., ( across from K-Mart) will be hosting two special AA (Alanon, Alateen Family Groups and Alcoholics Anonymous) workshops this month. The seminars will feature presentations, speakers, and a meal. “Reaching out to the professional” is the topic on Sept. 27, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and “Reaching Out to the Community” will be presented 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 28.
