Woodcarving contest in Frankenmuth Oct. 20

FRANKENMUTH — Woodcarver’s Guild of Frankenmuth will be having their annual show on Oct. 20,at the Frankenmuth High School Gym, 525 E.Genesee St., in Frankenmuth

The show will be open to visitors from 10 a.m. -4 p.m. To enter a carving in competition you must arrive between 7-9 a.m. and there is a $3 entry fee. This is a family event you do not want to miss.

There are wood carvings of all kinds. Admission is adults $3, couples $5, and families $6. — G.G.

Support group to hear about Alzheimers

FLINT — The Kidney Cancer Educational Support Group will meet Oct. 23, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, 302 Kensington ave. Flint.

The featured speaker is Laura J. Ruhle, BA/CT, program coordinator, Alzheimer’s Association-Greater Michigan Chapter,Central Michigan Region. Topic: ‘What is Alzheimer’s? What I need to know?”

Learn about warning signs this disease, how it affects the brain and services provided by the Alzheimer’s Association.

The meeting is open to the general public.

Sen. Robertson hosting office hours on Oct. 11

LANSING — State Sen. Dave Robertson, RGrand Blanc Township, will hold office hours in the district on Oct. 11.

The senator will be available to meet with constituents at the following locations and times:

• Waterford Township Municipal Building, Second floor conference room, 5200 Civic Center Dr., Waterford Township from 9-10 a.m.

• Brandon Township Library, 304 South St., Ortonville from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
