Senior home hosting kids Halloween party

FLINT TWP. —Genesee Gardens Independent Senior Living Community, 4495 Calkins Road, will hold its Annual Safe Trick or Treat Event from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, October 26.

The party provides a safe environment for a candy pass by residents, games, prizes and fun for all ages, There will also be pumpkin carving and light snacks available. The event is open to the public. — R.S.

Annual arts and crafts show coming to Knopf

FLINT TWP. — Crafters from Michigan and the U.S. will display their goods at the 30th annual Countryside Crafters Fair.coming from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Genesee Intermediate School District’s Elmer Knopf Learning Center, 1493 W. Maple Ave. Admission is $1 per person and there will be food sold and a raffle held with prizes ranging from $50 to $500.

Diabetes Self Management Program to hold health fair

FLINT — McLaren’s Diabetes Self Management Program is partnering with

Sanofi-Aventis for its ninth annual free health fair. This year’s event will feature Riva Greenberg, who will present “Taking Control.” Riva is a real patient with real A1C control who will provide real inspiration for having better blood sugar control.

The program is being held in Ballenger Auditorium at McLaren Flint on Nov. 6 from 5- 7:30 p.m. The health fair will also feature a variety of exhibitors.

Kidney cancer support group to meet Nov. 13

FLINT — The Kidney Cancer Educational Support Group of Michigan will meet Nov. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, 302 Kensington. Dr. Ahmed Akl,Chairman of the Radiation Oncology Department at Hurley Medical Center is the guest.

He has experience in the use of Brachytherapy. Cancers included are prostate cancer,head and neck cancer, skin cancer, chest and breast cancer, gynecological cancer.

MCC Halloween party

FLINT — MCC’s 12th annual Halloween Party is scheduled for Oct. 25 from 5-8 p.m. in the Ballenger Field House on the MCC main campus, located at 1401 E. Court St. in Flint.

This event is free and open to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Halloween Party will feature several activities, including a costume contest with prizes, face painting, a haunted house, inflatable bouncers (“bounce houses”), storytelling, music provided by a DJ and entertainment featuring the MCC Campus Clowns and the MCC Cheerleaders. Refreshments will be served.
