Santa Claus is coming to Genesee Valley Center

FLINT TWP. —Santa Claus will arrive at Genesee Valley Center at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov.r 8, presented by the Genesee District Library. Beginning at 5:45 p.m., while supplies last, families gathered at the Outdoor Village can enjoy hot cocoa from Coffee Beanery and cookies from Mrs. Fields.

Santa will arrive at the Outdoor Village escorted by the Flint Township Fire Department. He will then proceed indoors for a special reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas in the JCPenney Court. At the conclusion of the story reading, Santa will ride the Mini Express train through the mall to his holiday home in Center Court where he will join his Woodland Friends through December 24th.

The Woodland Friends Santa display is based on the children’s book “Stranger in the Woods” by Carl R. Sams II and Jean Stoick and is sponsored locally by Dort Federal Credit Union.

Santa will be available for photos from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday through December 23rd. Photos will available on Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. . Each child that visits with Santa receives a special gift.

Santa Beach Party at Tropical Smoothie

FLINT TWP. —Tropical Smoothie Café-Flint, 2103 S. Linden Road, is hosting the 5th Annual Santa Beach Party from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday November 9 to benefit Old Newsboys, so that “NO CHILD IS FORGOTTEN” this holiday season.

The fun at this fundraiser includes a limbo contest , a kids coloring contest, photos with Santa for a $5 donation, a prize wheel, a silent auction and more. Every $20 donation will be used to sponsor 1 child in the Holiday Box Program. Each child receives in their gift package the following items: 1 sweat suit 2 pairs of socks 2 pair of underwear 1 knit hat 1 pair of gloves or mittens, a toothbrush, dental floss and toothpaste, and an age-appropriate toy or gift and additional small gift items.

‘For Adults Only’ leadership workshop at Davenport

FLINT TWP. — Bill Diedrich, a Lansingbased leadership coach and author, will conduct an interactive workshop from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday Nov. 14 at Davenport University, 4318 Miller Road, Room 103. The workshop is based on Diedrich’s book “ Adults at Work: How Individual and Organizations Can Grow Up.” The $97 registration fee includes a continental breakfast, other refreshments and a copy of the book. Ten dollars of each registration fee wll be donated to the West Flint Business Association Scholarship Fund. Registration must be made in advance online at Adults_ Only.html.
