Security Credit partners with local charities
FLINT — With the holidays around the corner, Flint-based Security Credit Union (SCU) has teamed up with four mid-Michigan charities to give back and spread cheer this Christmas season: the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan (FBEM), the Old Newsboys of Flint, the Genesee County Animal Shelter and The Salvation Army.
“With the hustle and bustle of busy lives, it’s easy to take what we have for granted,” said Christopher Estes, SCU president and CEO. “Christmas is the perfect time to reflect. Partnering with these worthy charities gives us the opportunity to give back and give thanks, while helping community members in need.”
Now through the end of the year, SCU members in Genesee, Lapeer and Saginaw counties will have the opportunity to participate in the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan’s Ornament Promotion. For a $1 contribution, members will receive a paper Christmas ornament to sign and hang in their local office. Each $1 donation enables the FBEM to provide six meals to community members in need. For more information on the Ornament Promotion, visit www.fbem.org.
SCU offices in Genesee and Shiawassee counties will give hope this holiday season as they participate in The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign. Through Dec. 24, each credit union will host red kettles to collect donations for the nonprofit’s annual fundraising campaign, which enables the organization to provide holiday meals, warm coats, clothing and children’s toys to families in need.
