Whaley hires new director of finance

FLINT — Becki Flanagin, CPA, MBA began as Whaley Children’s Center Director of Finance on Nov. 18.

Flanagin is a Certified Public Accountant with more than nine years of experience in public accounting. Most recently, Becki was with Plante Moran working with nonprofit organizations. Becki obtained her Master Degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan- Flint and her Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Baker College. Becki is a member of the Downtown Flint Optimist Club, the Genesee Regional Young Professionals (GRYP), the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Whaley Children’s Center is an independent, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1926 that provides residential child care services to children age 5- 17 years old who have suffered chronic and profound abuse and neglect. The services provided to children and families include residential treatment, group homes, and family counseling and aftercare service.

IMA Winter Bridal Show looking for vendors

BURTON — The IMA’s Winter Bridal Show will unveil many of these hot new trends with the area’s top wedding professionals on Jan. 4 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at IMA Brookwood Banquet Center, 6045 Davison Rd.

Brides and their friends and family can experience a great selection of merchants available for their special day including Photographers, DJ’s, Photo Booths, Uplighting, Wedding Gowns, Men’s Formalwear, Decorators, Wedding Cakes, Dry Cleaning/Wedding Gown Preservationist, Event Planners, Linen, Chair Covers and more.

The show will feature a “Bridal Salon” sponsored by Expressions In Silk Bridal where brides can actually try on gowns and talk to wedding gown specialist in a separate salon area.
