Flint Assembly worker suicide under investigation

FLINT — An employee at General Motor’s Flint Assembly plant in Flint reportedly took his life Tuesday afternoon, according to a press release from General Motors spokesperson Tom Wickham. No one else in the plant was injured. No further details were provided about the deceased worker or the circumstances. Plant officials are working with local authorities investigating the incident, according to the press statement. Grief counselors were brought on site to support employees. — R.S.

Easter Bunny arrives at mall on Saturday

FLINT TWP. — The Easter Bunny arrives at Genesee Valley Center on Saturday, March 22, taking up residence in a newly, expanded whimsical display at Center Court. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday through April 20. — R.S.

CAMS presents fun musical

FLINT TWP. — Carman-Ainsworth Middle School Theater will present “Unhappily Ever After,” a show with singing, dancing and loads of laughs. Show dates are, March 26, 27 and 28th. Curtain opens at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults or $3 for CAMS students and elementary students. Senior Citizens and children 4 and younger are admitted free. — R.S.

Community basic needs fair at Flint Public Library

FLINT — The 5th annual Basic Needs Fair, hosted by the Flint Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Flint Public Library will be held at the library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 29.

Numerous agencies will provide information and assistance for individuals regarding housing, food, health care, clothing, blood sugar screenings and other needed resources. There will also be a food distribution while supplies last.

For the past five years, “Flint Alumnae Chapter has co-hosted this event with the library to raise awareness about those who might not have health care, or needed daily essentials such as food and shelter especially during winter months. To date, the following agencies are confirmed to participate: Hamilton Community Health Network, Walgreens, Hometown Heroes, YWCA Greater Flint, Sacred Heart Rehab and HIV Services, Genesee Health Plan, Regional EMS, Genesee County Land Bank, The Salvation Army, Valley Area Agency on Aging, Nurse Family Partnership Program, American Cancer Society, DHS Foster Care, Genesee Health System (formerly Genesee County CMH), Genesee County Free Clinic, and McLaren-Flint Social Work Dept. Admission is free. The Flint Public Library is located at 1026 E. Kearsley Street in Flint.— R.S.
