Consumers sponsoring conference today

GENESEE COUNTY — Consumers Energy will serve as the host sponsor for next week’s ACI National Home Performance Conference and Trade Show in Detroit, the nation’s leading educational and training event for professionals who work in the home energy-efficiency industry.

More than 1,000 home performance professionals are expected to attend the three-day conference from April 29-May 1 at Detroit’s Cobo Center. — G.G.

Security Credit Union hosts annual meeting

FLINT — Security Credit Union (SCU) announces the re-election of five members to its board of directors following the credit union’s recent annual meeting, April 22 at SCU’s headquarters on W. Boulevard Drive in Flint.

The elected members include Vic Carpenter of Columbiaville, Ron Dodge of Flint, Lauren Emmons of Lapeer, Wilda Foy of Goodrich, and Don Henry of Remus. — G.G.

Teen Nation Tour to rock Detroit with benefit concert

DETROIT — Detroit will be the place to be as Teen Nation Tour takes the stage for a benefit concert to raise money and awareness for the incurable brain condition Hydrocephalus at the UAW-GM Center for Human Resources on May 3, at 7 p.m. thanks to General Motors.

Occurring in approximately 1 of every 500 births and in more than one million Americans today, Hydrocephalus is a condition in which excessive cerebral spinal fluid gathers in the brain, abnormally widening spaces in the brain and placing potentially harmful pressure on brain tissues.

Jason Adams, an employee of GM, volunteered his time to join GM in their community efforts to spotlight April being Disability Awareness Month, and in so doing, touched the hearts of many colleagues & GM management when he shared the emotional story of his own young son Hawke, who has Hydrocephalus and has had several brain surgeries.
