Annual Mid-East Festival coming next month

FLINT TWP. — The Our Lady of Lebanon Mid-East Festival is set for July 11-13. The annual cultural celebration is held on the grounds of the church, at 4133 Calkins Road.

Festival hours are 11:30 a.m. to midnight on Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Barnes & Noble bookstore hosting kids event

FLINT TWP. — “The Physics of Toys Workshop,’’ a special event for children ages 7 and up will be hosted by the Barnes & Noble bookstore at Genesee Valley Center, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 29. Local families needed to host exchange students

GENESEE COUNTY — You can by hosting a teen from one of more than 30 countries for the upcoming school year or semester.

Area families are still needed to host students who will study at local high schools for a semester or school year.

Families of all types are eligible to host: those with young children or teens or families with no children at home. They are expected to treat their exchange students as family members.

The students, who will arrive in August, are participating in the SHARE! High School Exchange Program to learn firsthand about Americans and our way of life.
