MCC board to name new president Aug. 1

FLINT — The Mott Community College Board of Trustees met in open session recently to decide the final phase in the presidential search process. After reviewing input following a full day of interviews, including open forums during the week of June 9, the Trustees ranked the four finalists in advance of on-site interviews on each candidate’s home campuses.

The top candidate was Beverly Walker- Griffea, senior vice president for Student Services at Montgomery College in Maryland.

Two finalists received the same score, Derrick Manns, vice president of Academics at Louisiana Community and Technical College System in Los Angeles, and Paul Gasparro, vice president for Student Success Initiatives/College-wide at Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio.

Tiffany Evans, vice president of Academic Affairs and chief academic officer at South Piedmont Community College in North Carolina was ranked fourth.

Board members said they were impressed with the qualification of all four finalists and commended the search committee for identifying outstanding candidates. The Board also expressed its appreciation for the commitment and dedication of search committee members throughout the presidential search process.

It is expected that a replacement will be chosen by Aug. 1. — G.G.
