Get ready to ride

FLINT TWP. — The Bikes on the Bricks annual escorted police ride is gearing up for its eighth year. As usual, the September 13 ride will organize and depart from Vehicle City Harley Davidson on Austins Parkway. The ride route is changing this year due to construction. The route is not yet finalized but tentatively is planned to circle west through Flushing and south through Swartz Creek and east on Bristol Road to Saginaw Street, before ending up on the bricks in downtown Flint at the main Bikes on the Bricks activities venue. Ride registration begins at Vehicle City at 8 a.m. and the ride is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.

Cost is $10 per driver and $10 for passengers, with proceeds going to various charities with children’s programs. Check back for updates on the official website at — R.S.

WFBA planning 25th Anniversary Celebration!

FLINT TWP.— After a summer hiatus, the West Flint Business Association is gearing up to restart its monthly meeting by celebration its 24th year, on September 17. The meeting is open to the pubic and starts at 12:30 pm at Valley Family Restaurant. 5009 Miller Rd. The he Divine Dixie Diva will provide A birthday cake and the guest speaker will Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton, a 22-year member.

C-A reunions planned

FLINT TWP. — A Hoover School Reunion for all former students, teachers, and neighborhood residents will be held on Sunday, September 7, beginning at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Memorial Home Lounge, 4314 W. Dye High School’s annual thunderbolt reunion will be held Saturday, September 13 at the St. George Orthodox Banquet Hall, 5191 Lennon Rd., from 7-11:00 p.m., Cost is $15 per person at the door (checks can be payable to Dye Alumni Assoc.) Middle Eastern Church plans luncheon, bake sale

FLINT TWP. — A Middle Eastern Luncheon and Bake Sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, September 11 at St. George Orthodox Church,

5191 Lennon Road. (Behind Kohl’s) Between Linden and Dye Roads, Menu items will include Cooked Kibbee, Green Bean Stew (Yahnee) and Rice, Hummus, Salad, Pita Bread, Dessert, Coffee and Iced Tea.
