Hurley and Kohl’s stores team up for Healthy Kids
FLINT — Kohl’s Department Stores, through the Kohl’s Cares cause merchandise program, has donated $132,763 to the Hurley Foundation, on behalf of Hurley Children’s Hospital, in support of its Kohl’s Cares for Healthy Kids program.
The donations were collected from Kohl’s stores located in the Flint area. Kohl’s has gifted $1,047,315 to Hurley since 2006. During that time, Hurley’s partnership with Kohl’s has supported multiple children’s health initiatives, including rehabilitation, asthma, and childhood injury prevention.
Kohl’s will present the donation at the Kohl’s Cares for Healthy Kids kickoff taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Flint Farmer’s Market, 300 East First St. Kohl’s will present the donation at Noon. — G.G.
Sybyl Awards to recognize outstanding volunteers
GENESEE COUNTY — Do you know an outstanding community volunteer? Would you like to see them recognized for their outstanding service?
Resource Genesee is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 Sybyl Award. The award was created in 2008 to honor the life of Sybyl M. Atwood. Sybyl served as Program Director for Volunteer and Information Services at Resource Genesee and its predecessor organizations for more than 40 years.
The Sybyl Award was designed to acknowledge someone in the Genesee County community who exemplifies Sybyl’s energy, outlook, and dedication to helping others. The award recipient will be announced at Resource Genesee’s Annual Holiday Luncheon to be held on Dec. 4.
