Walk-run-sit-a-thon

FRANKENMUTH
— The Michigan Lyme Disease Association announces its Walk-Run-Sit-A-Thon fundraiser Sept. 18 at Heritage Park.

Registration is 9 a.m., followed by the event at 10 a.m. The fundraiser ends at 1:30 p.m. The Michigan Lyme Disease Association is a 501(c)3, nonprofit allvolunteer group dedicated to raising awareness of Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses through literature, support groups, medical conferences and a toll-free support line. One hundred percent of all donations go back to these and many other services.

Genesys hosts 5K run/walk

— Genesys will host its 10th annual 5K Run/Walk Sept. 25 with proceeds benefiting patients and families of Genesys Hospice.

“Dash for a Difference” will take place on the grounds of Genesys Regional Medical Center— Health Park. The 5K run begins at 10 a.m., followed by the 5K walk at 10:05 a.m. There is a one-mile fitness run for kids at 10:45 a.m., followed by a quartermile indoor fitness run for kids at 11:10 a.m. on the indoor track at Genesys Athletic Club. Awards will be given to overall and first Masters male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each division. All participants in the kids’ event will receive a finisher’s award.

Cost is $20 for those who register by Sept. 17, and includes a T-shirt. Cost without a T-shirt is $15. Late registration is $25 (with a T-shirt) and $20 (without a Tshirt). Cost for the kids’ races is $10 (early or late registration) and includes a T-shirt. Free hearing and vision screening for children

GENESEE COUNTY
— The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) will be providing free hearing and vision screening clinics for children who are 3-18 years of age and live in Genesee County.

Children enrolling in kindergarten must show that they have received the Michigan Department of Community Health vision screening or an eye examination by a doctor before starting school.

The hearing and vision screenings are done by GCHD staff technicians. Children whose screenings indicate a need for further evaluation will be assisted with a referral to their doctor or resources for health insurance if needed. The hearing and vision screening clinics are held at Genesee County Health Department, McCree Courts and Human Services Center, 630 South Saginaw St., Suite 4, Flint, MI 48502

The testing date is Sept. 17 — 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
