Speakers available from Flint & Genesee County Chamber

FLINT — The Speakers Bureau is one of the key services that the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce offers to the Flint & Genesee region. It’s a great opportunity for the Chamber to keep the community abreast of positive news, new developments and opportunities.

The primary goals of the Speakers Bureau are to provide information on available programs and services; promote positive news happening in the community; increase the visibility of our work in the community; report the organization’s performance results; and communicate how the public can get involved in revitalizing the Flint & Genesee region.

According to CEO Tim Herman, the Speakers Bureau is yet another way that the Flint & Genesee Chamber looks to engage the community.

The Speakers Bureau provides the Flint & Genesee Chamber staff as speakers on topics including business services, economic development, local tourism, employer and youth education and training, reinvention of Flint and Genesee County, government contracting, business and community engagement (how to get involved), the benefits of shared services, and business networking. Flint & Genesee Chamber leadership and staff are available to speak to nonprofit, professional, educational, business, civic or trade organizations.

Free “Writing a Business Plan” workshop in Flint

FLINT – A free “Writing a Business Plan” workshop is being presented at Kettering University in Flint on Oct. 2 from 1-4 p.m.

Presented by the Michigan Small Business Center (MI-SBDC) and hosted Kettering University; this workshop covers the specifics of business planning including market research, marketing, finance, legal, operations, and management. Tools, steps, and a workbook for creating a business plan draft are included.

For early stage or startup businesses, the pre-requisite to this course is attending the “Starting a Business” workshop which puts you on a preparation path to be ready for “Writing a Business Plan”. These and other “Venture Start” workshops are offered at multiple locations and dates around the region and the state.

There is no fee for this workshop or any of the Venture Start workshops offered by MI-SBDC I-69 Trade Corridor regional office. However, advance, separate registration for each individual attending is required and can be made online at: aspx?ekey=60340034
