Trick or Treat at CAHS

FLINT TWP. — Think you can outrun a zombie, ghost, goblin or other creatures of the night? Tie on your running shows and find out at the Halloween Scaredy-Pants Races — two fun run/walks to support the Cavalier Cross-Country Program, to be held at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Carman Ainsworth High School.

Costumesareencouragedfora11/2- mile race for children through grades six who can trick or treat around a course that includes a cemetery, witches, spider webs and more. The entry fee is $10 until October 23 and $15 Oct. 24-25.

The second race will be a 5K color run/ walk for older Halloween fans. A $40 entry fee includes a long-sleeved, tech Halloween Scaredy-Pants shirt. Medals will be awarded to the first 100 finishers. Registrations are being taken at Bauman’s Running and Walking Shop, 1473 W. Hill Road. — R.S.

Church planning events

FLINT TWP. — The 2014 Fall Festival this weekend and Living Word Church, 6325 Calkins Road, is one of two upcoming community-wide events.

The Festival starts at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18 and will offer fun for the whole family including a caramel apple bar, food, a bondfire, hayrides, games, horse rides and a petting zoo. Attendees are asked to bring a bag a candy to be handed out to children at the event.

On Nov. 1 at 10 a.m., the church will offer its annual Coat Giveaway for children and adults. There is a limit of one per child or adult but children do not need to be present. Seniors on the move

FLINT TWP. — The Carman-Ainsworth Senior Citizens Center has several upcoming road trips planned. Coming up on Monday, Nov. 10 and again on Monday, Nov. 24 is a day trip to Caesar’s Windsor. Pay $20 for the first trip and get the second trip free. Coins and food offers also are included. Proof of citizenship such as a passport is required. Another trip is planned for Monday, Dec. 8, to the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant. A $35 fee includes a ticket to see a live concert by noted country western singer/songwriter Phil Vassar. The bus is expected to arrive at 11:30 a.m. and the concert is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. Details: Call 810-732-6290. — R.S.

Hall of Fame Banquet

FLINT TWP. — The Carman-Ainsworth Athletic Hall of Fame will welcome its Class of 2014 into membership on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Holy Redeemer Family Life Center on Bristol Road. Social hour will begin at 4:30 p.m.
