IMA Community Salute to Phil Shaltz
BURTON — The IMA Recreation Association’s 12th Annual Community Salute will honor Phil Shaltz, President of Shaltz Automation on Oct. 23.
The 2014 Community Salute will be held at IMA Brookwood Golf & Banquet Center in Burton. Program speakers will reflect and pay tribute to Shaltz and his dedicated service to the Genesee County community.
Program speakers will include Ghassan Saab of Sorenson Gross, Congressman Dan Kildee, Isaiah Oliver of the Community Foundation and Duane Miller of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. Samuel Cox will open the Salute by delivering the invocation.

March of Dimes hosts 12th Signature Chefs auction
FLINT — Hurley Medical Center will present the 12th Annual Signature Chefs Auction to benefit the March of Dimes on Oct. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre in Flint. Participating restaurants include Applewood Café, Brick Street Bar & Grill, The Jewel, Woodfield Country Club, Bubba O’Malley’s, and Beef and Barley American Kitchen. Tickets are $60 per person, or $750 for a table of 10.
Ivana Vettraino, MD, MBA, Director, Maternal Fetal Medicine at Hurley Medical Center will also be honored during this year’s event.
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Funds raised during the Signature Chefs Auction support lifesaving research and programs aimed at prevention of infant health threats.
