Old Newsboys Christmas sign-up starts Nov. 3

FLINT— The Old Newsboys of Flint will soon open enrollment in their Christmas Program which has been serving children from Genesee County’s low-income families since 1924. Sign-up opens Nov. 3 and runs through Dec. 23. Applicants may sign-up at the Old Newsboys office at 6255 Taylor Drive in Flint. Sign-up hours are from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m.–6 p.. (closed for lunch noon – 1 p.m. daily). Please contact the Old Newsboys at 810-744-1840 with questions about qualifiers or documentation.

The Arab American Heritage Council, UM-Flint present ‘Empowering Women’

FLINT —It’s an evening to be inspired and enhance both body and mind. This FREE event will be held Oct. 25, from 6:30- 9 p.m. at the UM-Flint Recreation Center.

Guest speaker Mona Sahouri, executive director of the Arab American Heritage Council is presenting “Re-imagining Women and Diversity,” and Dr. Reem Salman, Internal & Pediatric Specialist is presenting “Healthy Women = Empowered Women.”

This event is just for women 16 years of age and older. Free childcare provided by the UM-Flint Early Childhood Development Center for ages 2-12.

Choose from numerous fitness classes, including WERQ™, Zumba!®, Spinning™, Yoga, Tai Chi, & Functional Fitness. Bring/ wear exercise attire and a lock for locker use. Receive a free chair massage, gift bag from Somerset Salon and enter to win a door prize.
