Kildee elected by colleagues to serve as Regional Whip

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee of Flint Township has been elected by his Democratic colleagues to serve as Regional Whip for the Midwest Region in the 114th Congress. The new and expanded role for Congressman Kildee will position him to advocate for the Midwest region in Congress as well as assist Democratic leadership in managing legislative business on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Kildee was appointed an assistant whip in the 113th Congress and also currently serves as the freshman representative on the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. — R.S.

Vendors sought for church craft sale

FLINT TWP. — A Christmas Craft Bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 at The New Creation Church of God, 3472 Lennon Road at Dye. Sponsored by the church scholarship committee, the event will offer crafts, jewelry, baked goods, books, art and other goods and services. Vendors are still being sought. Tables are $10 each. Get ready for the 7th Annual Winterfest at CAMS

FLINT TWP. — Men @Work will host their 7th annual Winterfest celebration of the season of giving from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 in the Carman-Ainsworth Middle School cafeteria. Admission is a non-perishable food item, unwrapped toy, gently used coat or a monetary donation. Proceeds will support the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, the Salvation Army, and the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots and the Old Newsboys. Each child under 11 will receive a gift and get to take a photo with Santa Claus. Adults must accompany children. C-A musical groups and the Salvation Army will provide holiday music. Free refreshments and games and activities for children will be provided. — R.S.

C-A seeks help with Toy Give Away

FLINT TWP. — Donations and volunteers are needed for a Toy Give Away being coordinated by Carman-Ainsworth Schools. They are collecting new or gently used toys, books, games, sporting equipment, movies, CD’s, electronics, and coats/snow pants for children from newborn to high school age. Donation boxes will be available at all buildings through December 1st. The toys will be given away at The Learning Community, 1181 Scottwood Ave, on Thursday, December 4th from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. for Bendle and C-A Families.
