Young People’s Ballet Theatre will host Santa

FLINT – The Young People’s Ballet Theatre will present its annual holiday program Dancing Thru a Winter Wonderland.

This wonderful program will be performed Nov. 29 at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at The Paavilion, 5251 Commerce Rd., Flint, home of the Young People’s Ballet Theatre.

New this year, the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy will be added to the program with a beautiful new costume. The costume department at Young People’s Ballet Theatre is a volunteer group of talented and dedicated women who make the costumes for all three of YPBT’s annual productions.

As well as this holiday production, Young People’s Ballet Theatre will be performing “Beauty and the Beast” Feb. 27 to March 1, at the University of Michigan-Flint Theater, and for the final production they will be performing “Rag Time” June 5-6, 2015 at the Bower Theater in Flint.

This year Young People’s Ballet Theatre welcomes four new dancers to the company. Jessie Cobb from Waterford will be performing in the role of

The Snow Queen in both performances. Amber Cook from Redford will be performing as a snowflake and Spanish dancer. Zora Clute from Grand Blancand Eden Ponsetto from Flushing will both be performing as Candy Canes.

The Flint Motorcycle Club presents the 55th Annual Pre-Race Party at Scooters

FLINT – 2014 marks the 55th Annual Indoor Motorcycle Ice Races hosted by the Flint Motorcycle Club. Since the Races inception, all proceeds from the event have benefited Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint. This has been a lasting partnership combining the love and commitment of Flint motorcycle Club and ice racing with the mentoring needs of children in our community. More than 2,000 spectators are expected to attend and be thrilled by amateur and professional riders competing for prize money. The races will showcase adult competitors and a youth division featuring children as young as 4 years old.

The fun begins with a kick-off party held on Dec. 4, 6-9 p.m. at Scooters Bar & Grill, featuring a live auction and pre-race fun! Scooters Bar & Grill is located at 6004 Torrey Rd. Flint. On Friday, Dec. 5 , a racer meet and greet will take place at Rocky’s Great Outdoors, Including a 50 percent off Pulse snow clothing sale from 5–7 p.m. only. Rocky’s is located at G-4014 S Saginaw St, Burton.

The Ice Races will take place Dec. 6, at Perani Arena and Event Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the races begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $16 for adults; $8 for children under 12, and are available at Perani Arena and Event Center, and Ticket Master Outlets, 810-744-0580. – G.G.
