Catholic Charities and Goodwill partner to gather donations for the needy

FLINT TWP. — Catholic Charities is asking the community for donations of coats, clothing, household goods, blankets, and non-perishable food items to those in need. A drive will be held on Saturday, December 6, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., at Sam’s Club, 4373 Corunna Rd., Flint, in a partnership with Goodwill Industries of Mid- Michigan.

All food, coat, and blanket donations will become part of Catholic Charities’ annual collection to help those in need throughout the holiday and winter seasons. Additional donations will become part of Goodwill’s Community Connection Program; a program designed to provide vouchers for partnering agencies to further their ability to serve more people in our community.

“You have no idea what something as simple as a blanket can mean to someone in our Warming Center, who has nothing else to cover up with as they sleep,” said Vicky Schultz, president and CEO of Catholic Charities. “Homemade, gently used, and new items are all welcome.” — R.S.
