Tent sale planned

FLINT TWP. — Heads up tool lovers. Harbor Freight Tools, the discount store at 4333 Miller Road, is planning two big tent sales. The township Board of Trustees approved the store’s request to hold tent sales from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 26-28 and again on Oct. 3. Permission includes setup and take-down days for a 20-by-30-foot white, one-piece frame tent in the parking lot in front of the store. — R.S. For your viewing pleasure

FLINT TWP. — Carman-Ainsworth Schools issued a press release to announce remaining dates for the expanded ACT Test Preparation Program for student athletes as follows:

 Aug. 19 – Science: Conflicting Viewpoints

 Aug. 25 – ACT Writing Test: Brainstorming and Drafting

 Aug. 26 – Trigonometry Review

 Sept. 1 – ACT Writing Test: Introductions, Conclusions, and Transitions

 Sept. 2 – Cumulative Science Review

 Sept. 8 – ACT Writing Test: Practice with Prompts

 Sept. 9 – Cumulative Review

FLINT TWP. — St. George Orthodox Church 5191 Lennon Rd., will holds its annual festival from Aug. 26-27 on the church grounds at 5191 Lennon Rd. The township board gave its approvalforthetwo-dayeventaarecentmeeting. Festival hours will be from 5-11 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on Saturday. — R.S Benefit planned for Clio man injured in crash

MT. MORRIS — A benefit will be held for Justin Childers at the Auto Eagles Club on Clio Road in Mt. Morris Aug-28-29 from 2 p.m.-1 a.m. Childers, 23, suffered a spinal cord injury Aug. 6 in Houghton Lake. He was the rear-seat passenger in an Oldsmobile which slammed into the back of a Pontiac Aztec on M-55 near Summit Drive. Childers was transferred to St. Mary’s of Michigan Hospital in Saginaw where he is still receiving treatment for his injuries. Proceeds will benefit Childers, the cost is $5 per person.
